What share of the deposit does Tattooed keep?

Tattooed keeps a platform-set commission from each deposit, rounded in your favor. You receive the entire remainder, with or without an affiliate.

A pipette draws a small amount of ink from a full ink cap.

Tattooed keeps a commission at the rate set by the platform from each deposit collected. You receive the entire remainder, whether or not an affiliate brought in the client.

This commission only applies to deposits from clients Tattooed brought you. No amount is deducted for your own clients, regardless of the session price, even when they pay you a deposit through a quote.

What amount the commission applies to

The commission only applies to the deposit, not to the final price of the service. The session balance, paid at the studio under your usual terms, never passes through Tattooed and is never affected.

Only for clients Tattooed brings you

The commission is only deducted from a request that came through the assignment process, meaning a client the platform found for you. A booking through your public booking page, an accepted quote, and a session you add to your calendar yourself carry no commission, even when a deposit is paid. In that case, the full amount is paid out to you. There is no commission for your own clients. See What is the difference between a client brought by Tattooed and a client who is already yours?.

Rounding works in your favor

The commission is rounded down to the lower whole cent. The remaining fraction of a cent always goes to your share, never Tattooed's.

An affiliate does not change your share

When an affiliate partner brought in the client, their share is deducted from Tattooed's commission, not yours. You receive the same amount with or without an affiliate.

What you see in your dashboard

The "My deposits, session by session" log on the "Payouts" screen under "My activity" shows three amounts for each appointment with a deposit: the gross deposit, the service fee deducted, and the net amount credited to you. A deposit from a quote also appears there, with a service fee of zero.

The My deposits, session by session log: four totals, followed by one row per session showing the gross amount, service fee, net amount, payout date, and status.
Gross amount, service fee, and net amount, session by session.

Above the table, the total service fee is shown as a percentage of the tattoo estimate, not of the deposit. It is the same amount, expressed relative to the price of the tattoo.

The invoice

Tattooed invoices only for its own service, never for your tattoo service. You invoice the client for the session. An invoice made out to you, covering only the service fee deducted, is issued as soon as the transfer to your wallet goes through. The VAT collected by Tattooed applies only to this commission, not to the full deposit amount.

If the deposit is refunded to the client in full, no commission is kept and no invoice is issued for that appointment. The same rule applies if a dispute is decided against you and you receive nothing. Nothing is deducted for a service that did not take place.

Details of how the deposit itself is calculated are in How is my client's deposit calculated?, and the payout schedule is in When do I get paid after an appointment on Tattooed?.

How is my client's deposit calculated?

The deposit uses the low end of the time estimate and your hourly rate, within minimum and maximum limits. The calculation runs on our servers.

Can the client change the deposit amount?

No. Tattooed's servers recalculate the deposit on every payment attempt using the project and the hourly rate recorded at that time.
