Tattoo artist
Can the client change the deposit amount?
No. Tattooed's servers recalculate the deposit on every payment attempt using the project and the hourly rate recorded at that time.
No. Tattooed's servers recalculate the amount requested on every payment attempt using the project and your hourly rate as recorded at that moment. Nothing sent by the app is included in this calculation.
The same rule applies to every deposit paid through the platform, both for a client Tattooed brings you and for a quote you send to one of your own clients.
Why changing it would have no effect
The payment request sent by the app contains only the appointment ID, not an amount. There is therefore no field to alter. Even a request created outside the app would change nothing because the server retrieves the amount due instead of trusting the information submitted to it.
The client's payment screen displays this amount as read-only. There is no field or slider. What it shows is exactly what the server will charge, no more and no less.
A failed payment can be retried safely
A declined card, a double click, or clicking "Try again" requests the same amount, never a different one. The attempt resumes the original charge instead of starting a second one.
If you are reassigned to another tattoo artist in the meantime
Reassignment to an artist with a different hourly rate recalculates the deposit and starts a new payment attempt for the new amount. This is not a change requested by the client. The change of artist triggers it on the server.
A refund follows the same rule
If an appointment is canceled or a dispute is decided in the client's favor, Tattooed's servers also calculate and initiate the refund amount. No one enters it in the app.
What about your own clients?
A booking made through your booking page or a session you add to your calendar yourself does not trigger a payment on its own. If you send a quote, you set its price once and for all. The client accepts or rejects it, with no way to propose another amount, and any deposit is based on that price. The safeguard described above therefore applies to this payment as well.
