Try your tattoo on your skin before you get it.

A photo of your area is all it takes. Tattooed projects the design onto your skin, to scale, so you see its size, placement and look before you commit.

Can you try a tattoo before getting it?

Yes. With Tattooed, you try a tattoo on a photo of your own skin. The app first maps the area, which lets it lay the design flat on the contours of your body, then projects the drawing onto it at the right scale. You can try an idea described in your own words, your own drawing or a design spotted in the inspiration feed. The preview gives the size, placement and look of the tattoo. The final line remains the tattoo artist’s hand, on your skin, and they adjust it with you before the session.

On your photo, not on a model.

The render is calculated on the area you photographed, your arm, your back or your ankle. You see the design at its scale, on your body.

  • The area mapped

It lays the design flat on your contours.

  • The right size

The design is projected at the scale of your area.

  • Your photo stays private

Deletable at any time, GPS removed on upload.

Place it with your finger, exactly where you want.

Starting from a drawing, yours or a design from the inspiration feed? You place and size it yourself, with your finger, on your photo.

  • Your own drawing

    Yours, or an illustrator’s.

  • A design you spotted

“Try it” opens a project with this design.

  • Size and position

With your finger, in a few seconds.

A projection, not a promise.

Every render carries the label “simulated preview”. It gives you the scale and the look of the design. The tattoo artist adapts the line to your skin.

Frequently asked questions

Which parts of the body can I try a tattoo on?

Any area you can photograph clearly, arm, forearm, leg, back, shoulder, ankle or wrist. The more of the area the photo shows, the more accurate the scale.

Is the preview really what I’ll get?

No, and we don’t claim it is. It’s a projection calculated on your photo: it gives the scale, placement and look of the design. The final line work is the tattoo artist’s hand, on your skin, with their own constraints.

Can I try a design I spotted?

Yes. From the app’s inspiration feed, “Try it” opens a project with this design as the reference drawing. You then place it on your photo.

Is trying free?

Tries are offered as soon as you create your account, and your quota refills on its own after a rolling window. The app shows you at all times what you have left.

What happens to my photos?

A photo of skin is sensitive data, and it’s treated as such: stored outside any publicly accessible area, accessed through time-limited signed links, GPS metadata stripped on upload, never a public address. They’re used to generate your preview and prepare your session, nothing else.

How long have you been thinking about it?

Download Tattooed, photograph the area and see your design on your skin. Nothing is committed before the deposit.
