Can I use an exemption if the consent form was not signed before the session?

No. The exemption was removed in September 2026. Collect the form by QR code or on paper. It stays incomplete until it is collected.

No. The exemption button, which used to let you start a session without a form by giving a reason, was removed in September 2026. The consent form is the only document in the file whose absence directly exposes you to liability. Tattooed no longer provides a way to proceed without it.

The rule is the same for every session on your calendar, whether the client came from Tattooed or from your own client base. The session requires a form, regardless of where the client came from.

The two ways to collect the form

Open the project from the "Projects" screen, then open the "Consent form" section. Until the form is collected, it is marked "To be filled in", and you have two options:

  • the QR code, which your client scans to fill in and sign the form on their own phone, on site;
  • "Upload a paper form", if your client signed the printed version. Upload it, and it becomes part of the file just like a digital signature.

There are only two options: QR code or paper.

For a minor, the QR code is not available. The legal option is the printed parental authorization, signed by the legal guardian in your presence.

If the form really could not be collected

There is no button to bypass it. The form remains marked "To be filled in" in the project file, and the alert is shown in the section header even when the section is collapsed. The safest option is not to start until it has been signed on screen or on paper. This is the only proof that your client received the information about the risks and accepted the design.

Exemptions recorded before September 2026

Files that contain an exemption keep it. The reason and date remain visible in the "Consent form" section, and nothing has been deleted. A form that is still marked "To be filled in" can be collected later by QR code or on paper.

Available with the Visibility plan

Starting a new form by QR code or on paper is part of the Visibility plan. A form that has already been collected remains available to read at every tier, including after you cancel your subscription.
