How long should I keep my client's consent form?
Tattooed keeps signed forms and traceability records beyond the legal minimum, then automatically deletes them when the retention period ends.
Tattooed keeps the form for several years after the session. The platform sets this period, which is deliberately longer than the legal minimum for a minor's parental authorization. You do not need to archive anything yourself. Tattooed handles retention and automatically deletes the form when the period ends.
Why the retention period is longer than the legal minimum
French rules governing parental authorization require it to be kept for three years. Tattooed uses a longer period, aligned with the time during which your professional civil liability can still be engaged. Deleting a form too early would leave you without proof during the final years in which a client could still make a claim against you.
What the form contains and proves
The consent form includes the client's identity, answers to the health questionnaire, acceptance of the information about risks and precautions, and the signature. Once signed, it cannot be changed. No correction can be made to the document itself. If a correction is needed, a new form is created and linked to the previous one. When a third party timestamp token could be added, anyone can use it to verify outside Tattooed that the signature was not backdated.
The traceability register follows the same rule
If you keep a register of the ink and needle batches used, a feature available with a higher subscription tier, it is retained for the same period as the consent forms and for the same reason. The two documents are presented together during an inspection or claim: one documents consent, while the other documents the batches used on that client's skin.
What you can export
From your /pro dashboard, every completed appointment provides a downloadable PDF session file containing the consent form and the batches used. You can also export the complete register for a selected period, across all appointments, in a format suitable for an inspection or your insurer.
A third export combines every session for the same person into one file, and this requires a client account. It is therefore available for clients referred by Tattooed and for bookings made through your public booking page, but not for a session you recorded manually under a name only. Two people can have the same name, and Tattooed will not combine the health data of two different clients in one file. For these sessions, export each session separately. After the retention period
At the end of the period, the form and the corresponding register entries are automatically deleted. This supports compliance with data protection regulations. Tattooed does not keep a medical file indefinitely after it can no longer be useful to you or used in a claim against you.
