What if a client refuses to sign the consent form?
Offer the other option: the QR code on their phone or the paper form. There is no longer an exemption without a signature, and the form remains due.
Offer the other option. If they are uncomfortable using their phone, offer the paper version, and vice versa. A printed document signed by hand meets the requirement in the same way as a digital signature, and you can then upload it from the project record. If they refuse to sign in any format, there is no longer an exemption. The form still has to be completed, and the safest choice is not to begin.
The consent form is available for any session on your calendar, whether Tattooed brought you the client or not. There is only one limitation based on where the client came from: a client you entered manually does not have an account, so their forms are exported session by session instead of being grouped by person.
Try the other option
On the "Projects" screen, open the client's project, then the "Consent form" section. Until the form has been collected, two actions are available: the QR code the client scans to sign on their own phone, and "Upload a paper form" for a document that has already been signed. These are two ways to obtain the same document, not two separate requirements.

If the client refuses both options
The "Start without a form" button, which created a documented exemption, was removed in September 2026. The form is the only item in the file whose absence directly engages your responsibility, and a button for proceeding without it made it seem optional. The form therefore remains marked "To be filled in" in the file, and the alert remains visible in the section header. A client who refuses to sign also refuses to acknowledge the risk information it contains. This is a serious reason not to tattoo them.
The process for a minor never involves this type of refusal
For a minor, the legal process requires printed parental authorization signed by the legal guardian, never the online form. The screen therefore does not offer the QR code in this case. Showing minors a form they could not sign would waste everyone's time.
