How many free generations do I get for my project?
Your free generation quota is tied to your device, not your project, and resets after a rolling window. Here is how it works.
The free generation quota is tied to your device, not your project, and resets automatically at the end of a rolling window opened by your first generation. Each new render and each touch-up use one unit from the same quota.
This quota does not currently apply on iPhone. Generations are unlimited there, so no pack is offered. Everything below applies to the Android app.
This quota only applies to the app's skin preview. Booking directly with an artist through their booking link does not use any of it because that route does not involve any generation.
Why it is counted by device
Before 2026-08-02, the quota was fixed when the project was created. It is now tied to the device, so the limit applies immediately, including to a project that has already started. Lowering the quota can therefore immediately reduce what you have left, both for this project and for others opened on the same phone.
What abandoning a project does not do
Abandoning a project in progress does not open a new quota. The counter follows the device, not the project. Starting over elsewhere restores nothing.
When the quota is used up
Nothing stops. Four options remain available, in this order of priority in your process:
- Approve the best render obtained, the one that works best for you among those already generated.
- Wait for the rolling window to reopen: this is free, and the app tells you exactly how long remains before it ends.
- Buy a generation pack, an in-app purchase that can be topped up to a limit set by Tattooed. This option only appears if it is active in your app store.
- Abandon the project, which is final.
What the pack is not
The generation pack is a purchase of digital content consumed in the app and paid for exclusively through Google Play. Tattooed offers no other payment method or external link for this pack. It should not be confused with the deposit, which pays toward the tattoo service performed in the studio and can only be paid by card in the app.
