Why can't I close a day when I already have a confirmed appointment?
Tattooed will not close a period that contains a paid appointment. Cancel the appointment from its record first to free up the time.
Because a confirmed appointment is a commitment to someone. Tattooed refuses any calendar change that would leave the appointment without a time slot, preventing it from disappearing silently when you change your hours.
The rule does not depend on where the appointment came from. A prepaid session assigned by Tattooed, a booking through your public booking page, and a session you added yourself for one of your own clients all prevent closure in the same way. In all three cases, someone is expecting you at that time. See [What is the difference between a client brought by Tattooed and a client who is already yours?](/en/help/artist/requests-and-assignment/referred-vs-direct-clients).
The two actions this prevents
- Closing a day with "One-off change", either for the entire day or for a period that overlaps with a confirmed or ongoing appointment.
- Reducing your hours in your weekly schedule or on a single date to the point that a confirmed appointment falls outside the new open periods.
In both cases, Tattooed refuses to save the change and asks you to cancel the affected appointment first or keep your hours for that slot. Even before you save, the closure screen shows how many sessions are scheduled on the selected days. Find them in your calendar before confirming.

What is not affected
Only confirmed or ongoing appointments prevent a closure. An appointment offered to a client but not yet paid for does not prevent it. There is no financial commitment yet, and the payment deadline will expire the offer anyway if the client does not pay.
What to do instead
Explicitly cancel the affected appointment or appointments from their records. When a deposit has been collected, cancellation refunds it to the client in full and notifies them. There is nothing to refund for one of your own clients, but the effect on your reliability score is the same. A cancellation too close to the appointment time, or entered after it has started, lowers your score regardless of the session's source. Once the appointment or appointments have been canceled, the period is free and you can save the one-off closure or new hours as usual.
Why this rule exists
Closing part of your calendar is a quick action, often taken without reviewing every appointment that day. Allowing it to cancel a commitment without explicit confirmation could cancel a client's appointment without the tattoo artist ever truly deciding to do so. Canceling a specific appointment and seeing the consequences forces you to make an informed choice.
