Tattoo artist
What should I do if Stripe rejects my file?
A rejection comes from Stripe, not Tattooed. Appointments continue. Only payouts of deposits already collected are blocked until you fix the issue.
Open the onboarding link again from your /pro dashboard. Stripe, Tattooed's payment provider, will tell you exactly what was rejected or what is missing. The rejection does not stop you from receiving clients. It only blocks payouts of deposits that have already been collected.
A rejection only affects money processed through Tattooed: deposits paid through the platform and your payment links. Your booking page continues to work, and your own clients can book and pay you at the studio without this file being involved.
What the rejection blocks, and what it does not block
Your account remains eligible for client requests. The automatic tattoo artist search does not filter by this status. What stops is the transfer of deposit funds to your account and, as a result, your ability to transfer them to your bank. Deposits already collected are held, not lost.
Three different banners, not just one
The "Payouts" screen under "My activity" distinguishes between three situations. The message changes depending on which one applies to you:
- file not yet complete: you never finished the Stripe form, or Stripe is still waiting for a document. The banner asks you to finish it using the "Complete my file" button.
- file rejected: Stripe reviewed and rejected the information you provided. The banner lets you return to the file using the "Resume my file" button.
- file approved but payment account not opened: this is less common. Your identity has been accepted, but your Stripe payment account has not finished opening. The banner asks you to open this account using the "Open my payment account" button, rather than restart a file that is already in order.
These three messages tell you what to do. Do not rely only on the banner color, which may look similar from one situation to another.
Resume your file
The button in each of these three banners opens the same place: the form hosted by Stripe. It points to the exact item involved, document by document, such as your identity, proof of business, or bank details. Correct it directly in this form without returning to a Tattooed screen. None of your profile information, including your studio, address, and hourly rate, depends on this file or needs to be entered again.
After you correct the file
Your status changes to verified in one of two ways: automatically, when Stripe notifies Tattooed that the file has been accepted, or when you return to the pro dashboard after completing the form, which checks your status directly with Stripe. In both cases, pending deposits are sent to your account without any further action from you. You can then request a transfer to your bank.
If the rejection continues
If the issue continues despite accurate and complete information, contact Tattooed support from your pro dashboard. The cause comes from Stripe and its own identity verification rules, not a decision by Tattooed. Support can follow the file with you but cannot approve an account on your behalf.
