How long does Tattooed keep my project photos?
Retention depends on your project: abandoned, approved without an appointment, or completed in a session. An upcoming appointment pauses deletion.
The retention period depends on what happens to your project: an abandoned or never approved project is deleted first, an approved project without an appointment is deleted later, and a project that leads to a completed session is kept the longest.
These periods apply to all photos associated with a project: those used for a skin preview in the app, as well as the photo of the area and reference images you can attach when booking directly from an artist's page.
The three retention periods
- Abandoned or never approved project: limited retention, starting when the photo is uploaded.
- Approved project with no completed appointment: longer retention, starting when the photo is uploaded.
- Project with a completed appointment: the longest retention period, starting on the session date.
A preview suggested by your artist using their own design is an exception: if no deposit is paid and no session takes place, it is deleted after just a few days.
These three periods are settings configured in the back office based on actual needs, not constants hard-coded into the application. They may change.
What these periods cover
The same rule applies to the original skin photo, the generated design renders, and the stencil prepared for the artist. They are all media associated with the same project and are deleted together when the period for that project expires.
An upcoming appointment pauses all deletion
As long as your project has a confirmed or ongoing appointment, no photo is deleted, regardless of its age. Your artist needs it on the day of the session.
What counts as a completed appointment
Only a session that actually took place triggers the longest retention period. An appointment you did not attend does not count as completed. The shortest rule then applies, in keeping with the data minimization required by the GDPR.
Immediate deletion upon request
